Privacy Policy

Constellog is a local-first journaling app. Below is a plain-language description of what we handle — and what we don't.

What we don't collect

  • Your entries. Every journal entry is saved to ~/Documents/Constellog (or a folder you choose) on your computer. They never leave your machine for Constellog's servers.
  • Account information. There is no sign-up. We do not ask for an email or password.
  • Usage analytics. We do not track what, when, or how often you write.
  • Advertising identifiers, cookies, or device fingerprints.

What we may (optionally) handle

  • Auto-update checks. When the app checks for a new version, the request reaches our update server. Your IP address may appear briefly in server logs, but it is not linked to you and is purged within 30 days.
  • License verification. When you enter a paid license key, the key itself is sent to our license provider (Lemon Squeezy) for verification. Your journal content is never sent.
  • Crash reports (opt-in). Only if you explicitly enable crash reporting in settings will an anonymized stack trace be sent. The default is off.

Retention and your control

Your journal lives on your computer, as files you can open directly. You can back up the folder, move it, or delete it — all without going through us.

If you choose to place the folder inside iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or another sync service, that service's privacy policy applies separately.

Children's privacy

Constellog does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated. We will notify you in-app of any material changes.
